Lenovo is looking for a Junior Technical Engineer for the Innovation Center facilities located in Ullo – Hungary.
The goal of the Innovation Center is to provide the IT infrastructure in terms of servers, storage and networking for customers to run remote Proof of Concepts (POCs) to simulate their inhouse environment to maximize solutions selling success.
We need an onsite technical engineer that prepares the hardware equipment to host customer-specific environments, including server installation in racks, that takes care of the connections and hands-on configurations. As this is a junior role you will be guided by the Innovation Center senior technical engineers located in Stuttgart, Germany and the onsite IT team in Ullo.
Roles & Responsibilities:
In this position you’ll be supporting the senior engineers in Stuttgart for tasks that require on site presence. While contributing to the customers’ POCs, you’ll have the chance to learn how to setup IT environments (servers, networking, virtualization, storage), server operating systems (Windows/Linux) and IT infrastructure solutions like VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft Azure Stack HCI. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with the latest data center hardware generation and software on the market.
Your responsibilities will be (guided by the remote senior engineers):

• Prepare the hardware environment to host customer Proof of Concepts and tests in terms of:
  • Server installation in racks
  • Server hardware configuration – installing components like additional memory DIMMs, PCI adapters, swapping CPUs, etc.
  • Network topology – connecting cables, configuring adapters, configuring ethernet switches, etc.
  • Storage Area Network – connecting cables, installing switches and storage system options
• Maintenance of the Innovation Center equipment, opening technical cases with support, problem analysis/determination and taking care of physical replacement when required.
• Keep the internal tracking / inventory system up to date
• Maintenance of the storage area for additional equipment
• Maintenance of the local infrastructure that’s instrumental for the proper day by day operations (like VPN)
• Support customers during the POCs (in terms of IT infrastructure availability and configuration changes when required)
• Host on site customer visits to the Innovation Center
