Senior Backend Developer (Java)

• Perform upgrades and decommissioning of Sybase databases in line with project and organizational standards
• Migrate Autosys jobs and Java applications between Linux environments with minimal service disruption
• Decommission legacy systems including C++ applications, Perl scripts, repositories, and related infrastructure
• Conduct manual testing of system changes and prepare comprehensive testing documentation
• Prepare, coordinate, and execute application and system releases in collaboration with stakeholders
• Ensure adherence to established release and change management processes

• Bachelor or higher degree in a STEM field
• 5-7 years of relevant work experience
• User level knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Java and Linux based environments
• Experience with Sybase or other relational database systems
• Hands-on experience with job scheduling tools, preferably Autosys
• Good understanding of multi-threaded Java programming
• Experience in decommissioning or migrating legacy systems (C++, Perl, or equivalent).
• Prior experience managing or supporting release activities

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git.
• Experience with large-scale system migrations or modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of ITIL frameworks or formal change/release management processes.
