Lead Accountant

Ensure the smooth operation of Hilti (Hungária) Szolgáltató Kft.’s accounting, taxation, bookkeeping and reporting systems, while actively contributing to process improvements, automation and regulatory compliance.
The role reports directly to the Finance & Accounting Manager and works closely with local and group stakeholders.

• Manage end to end general ledger accounting, ensuring accurate, complete and timely recording of financial transactions
• Lead and execute monthly and annual closing processes in accordance with IFRS and Hungarian Accounting Standards (HAS), including journal entries, accruals, provisions and estimates
• Perform regular balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, investigate variances and ensure resolution of discrepancies
• Prepare, review and submit VAT and other tax returns, ensuring compliance with Hungarian tax regulations and internal policies
• Drive process standardization, automation and efficiency improvements within the accounting area
• Lead and manage internal and external audits (e.g. group, statutory, tax)
• Own payroll accounting in cooperation with the external payroll provider, including payroll postings, reconciliations and payroll related accruals.
• Act as a key accounting contact for internal stakeholders and cross functional teams
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate and oversee Internal Control System processes and controls

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
• Several years of relevant experience in accounting, taxation or audit
• Up to date knowledge of Hungarian accounting and tax regulations
• SAP experience (key user experience is an advantage)
• High level of accuracy, independence and sense of responsibility
• Strong Excel skills
• Fluent English (spoken and written) and native-level Hungarian are required
• IFRS and Hungarian Chartered Accountant qualification are and advantage
• Open minded, collaborative team player with a strong sense of ownership.
