Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Support food preparation and cooking on a day-to-day basis within a kitchen section under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef, ensuring mise-en-place requirements are met and the station is ready for service

  • Maintain adequate levels of food items to ensure a smooth service flow while supporting control of food quality, consistency, presentation, and taste

  • Ensure kitchen and food preparation areas are kept clean and organised at all times, especially when left unattended

  • Follow all company and legal requirements regarding hygiene, stock rotation, labeling, storage, temperature control, pest control, and reporting of faulty equipment, illnesses, or absences

  • Assist in minimising food waste and overproduction of mise-en-place and help keep food orders from stores and suppliers efficient

  • Support the supervision of daily tasks assigned to colleagues and assist in ensuring guidelines are followed, escalating issues when necessary

  • Prepare, cook, and garnish dishes according to recipes and presentation standards as orders are received

  • Support and assist team members in their sections to help achieve optimal quality and consistency

  • Follow proper health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices at all times

  • Assist in controlling costs, supporting gross profit margins, and contributing to departmental targets

  • Cooperate with other departments as required and maintain positive working relationships

  • Assist the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef in training kitchen staff in line with company procedures

  • Report maintenance, hygiene, and safety concerns promptly

  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations, and all health, safety, and food safety legislation

  • Support the instruction and training of the kitchen team on routine procedures and assist in supervising tasks to ensure clarity and compliance

  • Work efficiently to reduce wastage of food and non-food items

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • A Junior Sous Chef who has worked in, and understands, high volume operations. Someone who is always a step ahead and is a passionate innovator while being a true culinary enthusiast
  • Experience in multiple type of cuisines is an advantage
  • Expresses the FIVE Vibe by delivering exquisite culinary experiences
  • Experience in Cold Kitchen and/or Hot Kitchen
  • Demonstrates great dedication, has high energy and contributes with enthusiasm
  • Must be willing to ride the journey of creating a successful FIVE brand
  • An active learner with an open mind that embraces change, is always solution driven and an ideation expert
  • Swiss work permit holder or EU ID / Passport holder
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations
