Analytical Laboratory Manager

Purpose of the position:

The Analytical Laboratory Manager manages the analytical activities of the Hungarian Refinery Product Development to support the product development and research activities of this organization. The position holder takes ownership of the efficient operation and development of the laboratory in terms of knowledge, processes and equipment/tools to deliver quality results in time and within budget.

• Is responsible for safe, HSE compliant and efficient operation of the analytical testing unit. Leads by example in HSE related topics

• Is responsible for compliant operation of the laboratory taking into consideration all relevant laws, internal and external regulations. Ensures that the laboratory staff follow industry standards and safety regulations performing laboratory operation

• Prioritizes and schedules the utilization of laboratory resources. Coordinates the compilation of analyses, reports and data services in order to maximize profit, and facilitates reaching optimum performance at organizational and at company level

• Maintains and develops the regulations and directions of the managed organization, thus enabling efficient business operation, and meeting customer expectations

• Manages the professional development, mentoring and assessment of analytical staff and ensures a high level of commitment and motivation. Maintains and strives to improve a high service level for internal and external customers

• Performs a continuous development activity, in order to improve the service level of the organization and of the internal/external consumer satisfaction, and in order to meet future professional and business demands

• Keeps, on group level, a continuous contact with fellow organizations, as well as with authorities and external professional groups (e.g. suppliers, services, customers) in order to support setting and attaining ambitious professional objectives

• Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or equivalent, analytical chemistry specialization

• General knowledge of all related/managed professional fields, in-depth knowledge of analytical requirements in the Refining area

• 5+ years of professional experience in fast paced laboratory environment, 3+ years of managerial experience

• Good communication skills, ability to prioritize, very precise and systematic way of working

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and in Hungarian

• Advanced user of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project. Knowledge in Project Web Application is an advantage)

• Category B driving licence
