Our Software Development Engineer (SDE) interns use modern technology to solve complex problems while seeing their work's impact first-hand. You will own the entire lifecycle of your code - from design through deployment and ongoing operations. Key responsibilities include: collaborating with...

• Develop and maintain embedded software for ARM-based SoC and FPGA control platforms.
• Configure and integrate embedded Linux/PetaLinux, including board-support packages, bootloaders, device trees and peripheral drivers.

• Surgical microscopes creating surgical augmented reality
• Ultrasound devices creating 3D ultrasound imaging
• Brainlab's own Robotic Arm (Cirq)

You will take a key role in shaping and designing our edge platform for developing, testing, deploying, and operating real-time applications....

• Discussing and clarifying requirements with our internal domain experts
• Breaking requirements down into manageable work packages, estimating effort, and identifying technical dependencies
• Designing and developing algorithms that span and are optimized across various layers of our software stack

• Design, develop, and maintain applications.
• Optimize and enhance existing applications and infrastructure.
• Ability/interest to work with machine learning.
• Collaborate and communicate with various teams within the company.
• Ensure all applications reflect our internal policies and standards.

• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from concept to product release
• Design and implement software components and services across system layers using C++, C#, Rust, and modern web technologies (TypeScript, HTML5, React)

• Development and testing of Windows software based on Qt.
• Creating requirements and test cases in Polarion
• Working responsibly within development teams to solve complex tasks in a regulatory environment
• Improving infrastructure, software quality, testability, maintainability and reliability

You understand our platform architecture, existing systems and tech stack (C#/.NET, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/Azure) deeply enough to independently plan and ship features....

• Development and implementation of interfaces between clinical data sources, medical knowledge bases, and local LLM/agent-based systems
• Development of high-performance data pipelines for loading, structuring, validating, and further processing interoperable health data

• Hands-on development of applications for in-line metrology & inspection in semiconductor manufacturing by using ZEISS' FIB-SEM technology.
• Operate the FIB-SEM systems in the customers' clean room
• Be part of the engineering team and help development of FIB – SEM technology.

• Your responsibility: From day one, you'll own your stories and take end-to-end responsibility for your tasks.
• Your team: You'll work in a small team of no more than five full-stack engineers. Like this, our teams are more efficient and can move fast.

• Design, develop, and integrate novel components, for example for establishing trust (e.g. SPIFFE / SPIRE), securing network connections (e.g. mTLS, IPSec), and secure device onboarding (e.g. FIDO Device Onboarding).
• Maintain and continually enhance our existing software written in Rust.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software solutions
• Apply object-oriented design principles and established design patterns
• Contribute to system architecture, improvement of our existing software design and technical decision-making

• Develop, maintain and optimize Python and Linux shell scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Build automated pipelines and reusable code modules to support recurring reporting and analytics workloads.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of datasets.
