• Identify innovation opportunities and translate emerging technologies into customer value
• Shape collaborations between industry partners, universities, and research institutions

• Design and build backend services in that handle high-throughput, low-latency messaging traffic
• Work on core infrastructure: message queues, delivery guarantees, connection handling, and storage layers
• Debug and optimize systems under real production load, not just in benchmarks

• Design new protocol features and extensions, such as multi-device sync, group messaging and calls, and write the specifications for them.
• Implement protocol logic in and review implementations across our Android, iOS, desktop and web clients.

• Algorithm design: You design innovative compression algorithms and implement them as efficient software.
• Technology benchmarking: You evaluate and compare our approaches with competing methods.

• Mentoring and collaboration: You will support and guide colleagues in development and research activities.
• Algorithm design: You design innovative compression algorithms, implement them as efficient software, and perform careful evaluations.

Work upstream in the requirements process (PRD), establishing what each option costs to build and to run, what it commits us to later, and which one holds up once the commercial, medical and regulatory constraints are applied....
