Responsibilities

This role is part of the GE Aerospace indirect tax team that is responsible for managing indirect tax compliance obligations for the business across the globe. The main purpose of the team is to determine GE Aviation's worldwide indirect tax liability, maximize indirect tax refunds, file indirect tax returns with the highest integrity while complying with worldwide indirect tax compliance obligations. The role is a maternity cover (2 years fixed term contract).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyse VAT and other indirect tax returns on a monthly /bi-monthly/ quarterly basis
  • Prepare and analyse Intrastat, EU Sales and/or Purchase List reports (if required preparing additional country specify reports)
  • Ensure that the returns and declarations prepared are compliant with country specific rules and obligations, and they are prepared on time to meet the deadlines for all reports, returns and declarations
  • Carry out VAT clearing/netting postings monthly
  • Perform monthly and quarterly detailed VAT account reconciliations and Intrastat/ EU Sales and/ or Purchase List report reconciliation
  • Follow up on erroneous account receivable/ payable entries
  • Support external Tax Authority or Statutory audits and/ or internal VAT/ indirect tax audits
  • Review VAT and indirect tax returns on a monthly/ bi-monthly/ quarterly basis if required
  • Submit returns or declarations and arrange payments or refunds if required
  • Support identifying VAT compliance weaknesses and work on fixing process issues
  • Support ERP implementations, country VAT compliance rule changes
  • Develop in depth VAT compliance knowledge
  • Cooperate with other functions and provide support by answering VAT/ indirect tax related queries

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Professional Accounting/VAT Qualifications
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Strong accounting and VAT compliance knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills, including intermediate to advance MS Excel knowledge
  • Good communications skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines
  • Ability to partner effectively with GE Aerospace indirect tax team members, business management, controlling, and other finance or non-finance personnel

Nice-to-have

  • Polish language knowledge is an advantage
  • Asian indirect tax knowledge is an advantage
  • SAP or Oracle system knowledge is an advantage
  • Expertise in indirect tax data analytic tools such as Alteryx etc is an advantage
