Responsibilities
We are looking for a VAT Advisor & Compliance Specialist to join our partner's multinational finance organisation. This role is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a BIG4 background who is looking to move into a corporate environment while continuing to work on complex, value-adding VAT matters.
The position combines approximately 60% VAT advisory and 40% VAT compliance. While strong compliance knowledge is essential, the advisory component is critical and represents a key part of the role.
What you will do
In this role, you will support and coordinate VAT activities across several European jurisdictions in a multinational environment. You will work closely with internal finance teams, external advisers, and auditors, contributing to both high-quality VAT compliance and advisory-driven activities.
Your responsibilities will include
- Reviewing the VAT treatment of transactions, supporting contractual reviews, and advising internal stakeholders on VAT matters
- Testing and reviewing VAT returns, including analysis of underlying transactions prior to submission to tax authorities
- Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, review, and submission of VAT returns in cooperation with internal teams and external advisers
- Performing VAT reconciliations, testing, and validation activities, and preparing reports for management
- Providing VAT-related audit support and assisting during tax audits, reviews, and inquiries
- Maintaining VAT registrations, master data, tax codes, and VAT-related system settings in ERP platforms, and supporting continuous process improvements
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of professional experience in VAT or indirect tax, ideally gained at a BIG4 firm
- Strong VAT compliance background combined with a genuine interest in VAT advisory work
- Exposure to EU VAT Directive and VAT legislation, through formal training or practical experience
- Strong willingness to further develop VAT technical knowledge through self-study and on-the-job learning
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
- Advanced Excel knowledge (formulas, pivot tables)
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
What we offer
- Competitive cafeteria allowance
- Annual bonus scheme
- Private health insurance
- Additional paid leave
- Flexible setup with 3-4 home office days per week
- Opportunity to join a global company with clear progression paths
- Support for professional qualifications and continued learning
