Responsibilities

Write cleaning and data processing programs (SQL)
Manage metadata from various national and international large scale educational assessment studies (including automated adaptation integration via SQL programs)
Process and clean data from various national and international large scale educational assessment studies
Design and administrate SQL databases
Contribute to the administration of the Coding Unit's AWS server infrastructure
Contribute to the support of Coding Unit software (StudyExpert, CodingExpert)
Contribute to the development of the Coding Unit's technical infrastructure
Coordinate between and communicate with all related internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

University or technical college degree (Master or Diploma)
Long-standing experience in processing, cleaning, or analysis of large-scale data sets
Long-standing experience in writing and optimizing complex SQL code (or equivalent experience with equivalent tasks in other programming languages)
Long-standing experience in design and administration of relational databases
Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written), knowledge of German desirable
Experience in software design and/or software testing desirable
Strong troubleshooting skills
Team spirit, reliability, accurateness, and organizational skills

What we offer

We are a science-oriented research institute with an international workforce. As a family-friendly company (Hamburger Familiensiegel), we offer the possibility of mobile work (40%), an annual training budget per employee, job ticket, company pension provision, supplementary health insurance, and various health care services. The contract will be limited to an initial period of 2 years, but we are interested in a long-term working relationship. In principle, there is the possibility of part-time employment.

We conduct international and national large-scale comparative studies of educational achievement and other aspects of education, with the aim to research, understand, and improve education worldwide. At IEA Hamburg, more than 150 employees are involved in managing the different tasks of a study ranging from sampling to data analysis. Our experts also provide a wide array of services related to international and national surveys and assessments.
