Responsibilities

End-to-end ownership of performance as a first-class architectural concern across the Sportsbook platform
Definition and ownership of performance architecture for Sportsbook applications with focus on frontend performance and customer-perceived latency
Establishment and maintenance of performance-related non-functional requirements across web, mobile, and platform layers
Collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Architecture to align performance goals with business objectives and customer experience
Driving best practices for frontend performance including rendering and hydration strategies, asset loading, caching, and CDN usage, and web performance metrics
Collaboration with frontend teams to review designs, implementations, and technical decisions from a performance perspective
Partnership with Solution Architects, Platform Architects, and DevOps to identify performance bottlenecks across infrastructure, networking, cloud and Kubernetes environments, APIs and backend dependencies
Contribution to architectural decisions and roadmaps to ensure long-term scalability and performance sustainability
Definition and promotion of performance measurement standards, tooling, and dashboards
Leadership of performance analysis, load testing, and capacity planning activities
Participation in incident reviews and root cause analysis to feed performance learnings back into architecture and design
Acting as a performance ambassador across the organization
Communication of complex performance topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Mentoring teams to raise overall performance maturity of the Sportsbook organization

Requirements

Strong experience with frontend performance engineering in large-scale, high-traffic systems
Solid understanding of web architectures and modern frontend frameworks
Solid understanding of HTTP, networking fundamentals, caching, and CDNs
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) and containerized environments (e.g. Kubernetes)
Experience designing and reviewing systems with performance, scalability, and resilience in mind
Proven experience working in architectural or cross-team technical roles
Ability to influence architectural decisions without direct authority
Comfortable collaborating with multiple teams and architectural disciplines
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to explain performance trade-offs and recommendations clearly to engineering, product, and non-technical stakeholders
Experience working closely with multiple departments in a complex organization

Nice-to-have

Previous Sportsbook, iGaming, or real-time betting systems experience, Experience with high-availability, low-latency platforms operating at scale, Hands-on experience with performance tooling, observability, and load-testing frameworks
