Purpose of the role

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of legacy IBM i (AS/400) applications into modern, Java-based cloud-native solutions supporting FIEGE operations across Europe. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions that drive our technology modernization journey.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop target application architectures aligned with business and IT strategy.
• Lead modernization initiatives for legacy applications and support their transition to modern cloud-based environments.
• Define architectural standards, design principles, and technology roadmaps.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design and document solution architectures, including high-level and detailed designs.
• Collaborate with development teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and support architectural decision-making.
• Promote best practices related to software engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, and security.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, including AI-based solutions and tools.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and development teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions.
• Monitor and continuously improve the effectiveness of solutions

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Solution Architecture, Software Architecture, or Software Engineer role.
• Strong hands-on background in Java development.
• Experience designing enterprise application architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, with Microsoft Azure preferred.
• Understanding of microservices, APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Interest in leveraging AI technologies to support software architecture and development
• Experience working with Agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English.

• Experience with legacy system modernization projects.
• Knowledge of IBM AS/400 (iSeries), RPG, or COBOL environments.
• Experience with integration technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and modernization patterns (e.g., Strangler Pattern)..
• Experience leading international and distributed teams.
