Responsibilities

Leading a team of engineers and guiding their day-to-day work
Removing blockers to enable team delivery
Running regular one-on-ones and giving continuous feedback
Owning delivery and adjusting priorities
Mentoring engineers against the engineering competency framework
Building plans to avoid single points of failure
Hiring for the team including defining roles and running interview panels
Reviewing RFCs and tech specs and co-signing off
Holding the team accountable to engineering quality and process standards
Tracking delivery and reliability metrics and coaching engineers
Partnering with product, design, and other engineering teams for planning
Managing team spend and flagging budget risks

Requirements

Experience managing software engineers
Background as a senior engineer or above before management
Delegation skills while staying technical to guide decisions
Comfort giving direct and caring feedback
Experience running a hiring process from job requisition to offer
Strong written and verbal communication skills
