Responsibilities

  • Architectural design across tracking, auto-officiating and data delivery
  • Ownership of software-level architectural design for tracking products
  • Setting initial architecture for new tracking problems
  • Running the Software Domain Owner model for shared libraries
  • Maintaining design consistency across sports
  • Representing tracking in the Engineering Architecture Steering group
  • Leading computer vision direction including camera calibration, ball tracking, skeletal tracking and R&D
  • Researching new tracking technologies and building prototypes
  • Leading adoption of modern tooling including agentic coding frameworks and LLM-driven development tools
  • Coaching Squad Tech Leads and guiding junior architects
  • Running CV Algorithm talks, HawkTalks and tutorials
  • Helping with technical assessment for CV and ML roles
  • Managing operational health of ML training and synthetic data infrastructure
  • Escalating gaps in ownership and support with options attached

Requirements

  • Deep multi-camera computer vision expertise including camera calibration, intrinsics, extrinsics, distortion models, anti-wobble and bundle adjustment
  • Expertise in triangulation, 3D ball and pose estimation, skeletal tracking, continuous-time modelling and inverse kinematics
  • Expert cross-platform C++ skills across Windows and Linux, x86 and ARM
  • Experience with CMake and real performance profiling
  • Strong working knowledge of GPU inference (TensorRT, Triton) and ML pipelines (PyTorch, ONNX)
  • Proven experience running tracking at scale in AWS, on-premise and on edge devices
  • Hands-on use of AI coding agents and LLM orchestration to accelerate algorithm R&D and refactoring in large codebases
  • Working understanding of generative AI and synthetic data generation for real-time computer vision
  • Ability to set architecture across multiple squads and sports with pragmatic calls on reuse, cost and time to market
  • Clear writing skills for design documents, proposals and explanations for non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable engagement with external engineering partners including Sony, NVIDIA and AWS
  • Honest sizing of work and ability to state confidence and priorities
