Site Director - Diagnostic Laboratory
Introduction
Unilabs is the largest provider of medical laboratory diagnostics for prescribers and hospitals in Switzerland and employs around 800 people.
Your Tasks
For our modern diagnostic laboratory in Ticino with 60+ employees, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial leadership personality to take full responsibility for the site and drive its strategic development within a nationally and internationally connected laboratory network.
Your Role
In this position, you hold full P&L and operational responsibility for a high-performing diagnostic laboratory embedded in a strong national and international organization.
You ensure sustainable economic success, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and future-oriented strategic development of the site.
You act as the key link between the local organization and central corporate functions, contributing to the broader national and international growth strategy.
Your Responsibilities
Full responsibility for the site with 60+ employees, including financial performance and budget accountability
Direct leadership of 20+ employees, including further development of the leadership structure and succession planning
Ensuring efficient, high-quality, and economically optimized laboratory operations
Continuous analysis, optimization, and transformation of processes to sustainably increase efficiency, quality, and profitability
Steering, monitoring, and further developing key performance indicators (TAT, productivity, quality metrics, cost performance)
Active identification and implementation of optimization and automation opportunities
Evaluation and implementation of new diagnostic technologies in close alignment with central medical and technical departments
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards (ISO 15189)
Proactive cross-functional collaboration with national and international corporate functions (Medical, Quality, HR, Finance, Operations)
Your Profile
Degree in natural sciences, biomedical sciences, medical technology, BMA HF or equivalent qualification; additional management education is an advantage
Extensive leadership experience in a comparable senior management function with direct personnel responsibility
Proven experience in budget management, performance management, and strategic process optimization
Experience working with Swiss regulatory authorities and managing official inspections and compliance processes
Knowledge of Swiss labor law and applicable Swiss regulatory frameworks
Strong operational and process-oriented mindset with the ability to strategically steer and further develop a complex organization
Strategic, analytical, and entrepreneurial thinking with clear decision-making and implementation capability
Performance-driven yet appreciative leadership style with a strong entrepreneurial mindset
Fluency in Italian and English is mandatory
German or French language skills are an advantage
