Senior Unix Platform Engineer in Basel

Role Overview
As an AIX System Engineer, you will strengthen the platform engineering team by maintaining, optimizing and modernizing enterprise environments across AIX and Linux. You will take a hands-on role in platform lifecycle management, infrastructure expansion, automation initiatives and second-level operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and maintain enterprise AIX environments, including LPAR, VIO, NIM and HMC/IVM components
Operate, maintain and expand Unix/Linux infrastructures, covering storage, network and hardware layers
Contribute to infrastructure projects and continuous optimization of existing system landscapes
Provide second-level support, including participation in on-call rotations
Ensure adherence to security standards, backup strategies and change management processes
Apply automation practices using Ansible to streamline operational tasks
Expected Profile
Your Profile
You hold a university degree in computer science or an equivalent technical qualification and bring several years of current, hands-on experience working with AIX and Linux system environments. You combine strong analytical skills with a structured, reliable and solution-oriented working style.
Additionally
Current experience with IBM AIX across versions 7.1 - 7.3, including LPAR/VIO administration
Experience with enterprise storage technologies (SAN, NFS, GPFS) and virtualization (PowerVM)
Current Linux administration experience (RHEL preferred), including scripting skills (Shell, , Ansible)
Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes
Strong problem-solving abilities, capacity to prioritize and ability to work under pressure
Fluent in English; German is an advantage
Valid Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA citizenship required
Willingness to work 100% on-site
