Responsibilities

Ownership of quality and test strategy for critical backend services, APIs, and data flows across the platform
Design, implementation, and maintenance of automated test suites in Python covering API, integration, and service-level testing
Leadership of automation design decisions including automation scope, test pyramid placement, and suite stability
Building and improvement of Python test framework focusing on reliability, clarity, speed, and ease of contribution
Partnership with developers to build testability into system design and review test-related code including AI tooling output
Debugging of complex failures across automation, test data, environments, and product behavior with follow-up actions
Definition and maintenance of CI/CD quality gates in GitHub including test execution, failure triage, and release readiness
Development of practical test data strategies supporting automated and exploratory testing
Contribution to non-functional testing such as performance and reliability for critical services
Mentoring of QA engineers and developers on Python automation best practices and quality habits
Participation in migration of Python automation suite to Playwright including framework decisions and implementation

Requirements

3+ years of experience in QA automation or Test Engineering with deep hands-on Python automation development
Strong API testing experience with Python-based frameworks such as pytest, requests, or httpx
Solid understanding of REST APIs, web services, and event-driven systems including testing with mocks, contracts, and controlled test data
Experience building and maintaining automation inside CI/CD pipelines including test execution, reporting, and flaky test management in GitHub Actions or similar
Clean, reusable Python code with thoughtful design patterns and focus on long-term maintainability
Confidence leading technical discussions on test strategy, coverage tradeoffs, and automation approach
Comfort using modern AI tools with strong judgment, review, and ownership of results

Nice-to-have

Playwright experience or genuine interest in learning it
Contract testing experience using Pact or similar tools
Performance testing experience, k6 preferred
Docker and cloud-native familiarity with experience in microservices architectures
Test management and traceability experience using tools like TestRail, Testmo, or similar alongside documentation habits in Confluence or Coda
