Responsibilities

Leading, mentoring, and empowering a team of ML engineers
Owning model quality end-to-end from experimentation to production-ready artifact
Conducting regular 1-on-1s for career development and feedback
Removing blockers and ensuring team well-being
Driving task prioritization, sprint planning, and resource allocation
Championing team achievements and roadmap to stakeholders
Aligning efforts with data science, development, and product management teams
Leading model experimentation strategies
Prioritizing architectural improvements based on detection accuracy and business impact
Guiding design, training, fine-tuning, and evaluation of ML models
Defining model quality metrics, evaluation datasets, and acceptance criteria
Establishing strict model release contracts for Java-based backend
Ensuring deployed models meet operational constraints across deployment tiers

Requirements

Proven experience managing or leading technical teams
Experience conducting 1-on-1s and managing performance
Experience organizing daily workflows
3+ years applied ML experience across at least two domains: text/content classification, computer vision, similarity search/embedding models, malware, or threat detection
Strong proficiency in Python
Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow frameworks
Deep experience with model evaluation frameworks
History of shipping models with clean, well-documented handoff contracts
Solid grounding in statistics
Experience with rigorous experiment design

Nice-to-have

Security ML domain experience including malware family classification, phishing detection, URL reputation
Experience with model compression or quantization for offline and embedded environments
