Responsibilities

Design and develop robust, scalable backend components using Java and the Spring framework
Contribute to the redesign and modernization of a legacy Python-based system
Contribute to API design, system architecture, and performance tuning for the team’s services
Identify and resolve complex technical challenges
Continuously improve code quality, maintainability, and system performance
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance, availability, and throughput of the team’s services
Automate recovery from failure states
Work closely with fellow engineers, Product Managers, and infrastructure teams to deliver features and improvements
Participate in and help drive design reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions
Share knowledge and provide clear, constructive feedback through code reviews and pairing
Help onboard and support fellow engineers
Communicate effectively across the team and collaborate with other departments
Take ownership of the design, implementation, and delivery of features
Provide clear effort estimates and contribute to defining the definition of done
Ensure timely, reliable delivery of work
Deliver high-quality code with a strong focus on testing, reliability, and performance
Contribute to improving monitoring and observability for new and existing systems
Support production systems by diagnosing and resolving issues quickly
Proactively improve system reliability and reduce operational burden through automation and architectural improvements

Requirements

3–5 years of hands-on backend development experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem
Experience designing RESTful APIs and scalable production backend systems
Solid understanding of multithreaded application development
Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, and performance optimization
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
Experience with containerization and CI/CD workflows
Experience with networking, proxies, and handling asynchronous or distributed workflows
Ability to collaborate effectively in an agile development environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Fluent written and spoken English

Nice-to-have

Working knowledge of Python 3.9+ or willingness to learn
Experience with web crawling, scraping, or data ingestion pipelines
Exposure to monitoring, observability tools, and distributed tracing
Familiarity with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, Auto Scaling Groups
Familiarity with ElasticSearch, Redis, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and GitHub Actions
