Responsibilities
In your role as a Scientist (m/f/d) specializing in organic synthesis, you will be part of a team developing new molecules (additives) for surface coatings. You will work on the design and synthesis of these molecules in close collaboration with interdisciplinary research groups.
You will make an impact by :

Initiate, plan, coordinate, execute, and evaluate scientific research and development projects in accordance with project plans

Design and conduct laboratory experiments and research activities
-
Assess the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and process improvements
-
Perform literature and patent research to support research and development activities
-
Prepare and maintain scientific documentation, protocols, specifications, procedures, reports, and databases

Contribute to the further development of existing products and processes
-
Produce reference substrates and carry out application testing
-
Participate in safety assessments and laboratory automation initiatives

Ensure the operational readiness of the laboratory, including organization of cleaning, maintenance, repairs, and procurement of chemicals and equipment

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state-of-the-art scientific principles and theories and contribute, as appropriate, to scientific publications and conferences
-
Coordinate and support interdepartmental research activities and serve as a technical point of contact and advisor for subject-matter-specific topics
Requirements
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related scientific discipline; a PhD or more than five years of relevant professional experience is advantageous but not mandatory

Completed degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (m/f/d) or a related field

Extensive knowledge in synthesis (with a focus on organic chemistry) and chemistry, including modern synthetic methods and commonly used software (ChemDraw, SciFinder, MestreNova)

Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary projects/willingness to travel (less than 15%)

Analytical thinking, creativity, a structured and methodical working style, appropriate and professional demeanor, entrepreneurial mindset, strong organizational skills, teamwork, and strong communication skills

Very good command of English, both written and spoken

German language is a plus
