Responsibilities
The SAP Enterprise Architect is responsible for developing and implementing the global SAP architecture strategy and leads the overall SAP roll-out program. This role coordinates SAP Template roll-outs worldwide, aligns them closely with business units, plans and organizes roll-out waves, and manages project leads. The architect regularly reports to the Steering Committee (STCOM), ensuring transparency and effective governance at the top management level. The position combines strategic architectural responsibility with operational program leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop and maintain global SAP architecture and process standards (SAP Template), promoting harmonization and best practices.
- Overall responsibility for the SAP roll-out program: planning, steering, and monitoring all roll-out activities worldwide.
- Close alignment of SAP Template roll-outs with business units, ensuring business requirements are addressed.
- Detailed planning and organization of roll-outs (timelines, resources, milestones, risk management).
- Management and leadership of local and global project leads and roll-out teams.
- Regular reporting to the Steering Committee (STCOM) on status, risks, progress, and required decisions.
- Ensure compliance with governance, compliance, and quality standards during roll-outs.
- Advise and support business units in process digitalization and SAP transformation.
- Evaluate and integrate new SAP technologies (S/4HANA, Cloud, Fiori, etc.) into the existing architecture.
- Collaborate with the Business Intelligence (analytics) group to provide business relevant input to their BI model development
- Manage external consultants and service providers.
Requirements
- University degree, ideally in (Business) Informatics, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- At least 10 years of experience in SAP architecture and implementation in an international, complex environment.
- Proven experience in leading large, international SAP roll-out programs.
- Strong understanding of R2R, Q2C, P2P, and PL2P business processes.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP modules (e.g., FI/CO, SD, MM, PP) and integration scenarios.
- Experience in stakeholder management and in steering committees.
- Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
- Experience in change management and leading international teams.
- For the Porto location, an excellent level of English is required; for Ettlingen, intermediate German is additionally needed.
- High self-motivation, assertiveness, and intercultural competence.
