Responsibilities

Senior SAP ABAP Developer — Budapest (Hybrid)

Location: Budapest — Hybrid (office Tue–Thu, home office Mon/Fri; full remote not available)

About the role
We're looking for an experienced Senior SAP ABAP Developer to join our international team in Budapest and take technical ownership on both client projects and LabelNow, our own SAP-based product. You'll work on modern, user-friendly SAP applications built on SAP BTP and S/4HANA, collaborating with experts across Europe, the US, and India — and acting as a key technical voice between IT and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Design and architect SAP applications and data models, not just implement to spec
Develop, enhance, and maintain code; lead code reviews and enforce coding standards across the team
Own performance testing, optimization, debugging, and troubleshooting for complex scenarios
Drive SAP upgrades and enhancements, defining and ensuring best practices are followed
Take ownership of the full development cycle: requirements review, solution design, technical implementation, testing, go-live, and post-implementation support
Act as the technical interface between IT and business units, translating requirements into robust solutions
Coordinate with teams across different locations to ensure seamless project execution
Mentor and support less experienced developers on the team

Requirements

What we’re looking for

Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Strong ABAP OO knowledge, with proven experience designing solutions, not just building them
At least 5 years of experience in SAP implementation and ABAP development
Working knowledge of RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model)
Experience with OData services
Hands-on experience with CDS views and data modeling
Proven experience acting as an interface between IT and business units
Experience in front-end development interacting with REST APIs
Strong grasp of agile methodologies
Fluent in English
Able to work independently and take ownership of ambiguous or complex problems
Open to learning new technologies and methods
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, both written and spoken
Attention to detail in coding and design

SAP BTP architecture/design experience
SAP Fiori / UI5 development
Experience with SAP CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model)
Prior experience mentoring or leading a small development team
