Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Surface Treatment Technical Sales professional will be responsible for driving sales and business growth by providing technical solutions and support to customers in the surface treatment industry. This role demands a combination of in-depth technical knowledge, commercial acumen, and the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Position Responsibilities
- Directly support customers by visiting their production sites, identifying technical challenges, and offering tailored surface treatment solutions.
- Respond quickly to technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and stabilize chemical processes in close cooperation with customer teams.
- Guide customers in adjusting and optimizing chemical applications for cost efficiency, quality, and reliability in production.
- Introduce innovations by identifying opportunities to implement new products and technologies that add value to existing operations.
- Work hands-on in customer environments where production runs 24/7, providing reliable support and continuous improvement suggestions.
- Communicate openly with customer stakeholders to plan improvements, solve problems, and translate technical findings into actionable steps.
- Collaborate regionally with colleagues and partners, balancing field visits with home-office flexibility.
- Manage and develop an existing customer portfolio, as well as identify and prospect new clients in the assigned region.
- Achieve and exceed established sales targets and business objectives.
- Stay updated on market trends, competitor products, and new technologies in the surface treatment industry.
Requirements
Demographic and Geographic Data
- Age: Between 30 and 45 years old.
- Location: Resident in Europe.
- Travel Availability: High availability for regular travel within Europe and potentially to other regions, as business needs dictate.
Language Skills
- English: Mandatory fluency (written and oral) for technical and commercial communication with international clients and teams. Knowledge of other European languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish, Hungarian, Slovak, Slovenian) is an advantage.
Academic Background
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or another relevant technical discipline. Postgraduate qualifications or additional certifications in surface treatment or sales are valued.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in technical sales, technical support, or application engineering, preferably in the surface treatment industry (metal pre-treatment, wastewater treatment chemicals, metalworking fluids, etc.).
- Proven experience in B2B (business-to-business) sales and industrial account management.
- Ability to conduct sales presentations and prepare technical and commercial proposals.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of surface treatment processes, chemicals, and their applications.
- Ability to identify customer technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Proficiency in chemical analysis, process optimization, and interpretation of production data.
- Familiarity with coating systems and materials is a plus.
