Responsibilities

Development and enhancement of the MSCI Index Development Platform and the IndexMetrics Real-Time application using modern software engineering practices, Python, Azure, and AI-assisted development tools
Championing AI-enabled software development across the organization by evaluating emerging tools, developing best practices, delivering training, and providing technical guidance to engineering and research teams
Contribution to innovative quantitative research initiatives including factor investing and alternative data projects, supporting the full lifecycle from research and prototyping through implementation, client engagement, and product delivery

Requirements

Excellent Python software development skills with experience using AI-assisted development tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code, identify subtle defects, challenge assumptions, and deliver robust, maintainable solutions
Understanding of equity markets, portfolio construction, or quantitative investment processes or strong interest in developing expertise in these areas
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively across research, engineering, and business teams

Nice-to-have

Experience designing reusable software libraries, frameworks, APIs, or developer platforms
Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices
