Responsibilities

Setting the technical direction for AI-enabled platform
Architecting secure, scalable, serverless systems on AWS
Defining patterns and governance practices for multiple teams
Guiding AI value across the stack
Mentoring senior engineers
Leading org-wide design decisions
Writing code with impact beyond individual output
Shaping engineering strategy with broad organizational impact
Driving platform evolution with secure, scalable, reusable solutions
Leading architectural discussions and design reviews
Owning AI architectural decisions end-to-end
Acting as AI thought leader and educating engineering teams
Mentoring and stretching senior and staff engineers

Requirements

Principal-level track record at scale with 10+ years software engineering experience
At least 3 years operating at Staff or Principal Engineer level in large organizations
Leadership of large, complex platform or AI initiatives as decision-maker
Deep AWS platform expertise including multi-account architectures
Fluency with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CDK
Strong views on observability, resilience, and security translated into org-wide patterns
Production AI systems experience including RAG pipelines, agentic frameworks, LLM orchestration
Practical AI governance experience including bias and privacy checks, audit-ready monitoring, AI usage policies
Proven API design and backend platform delivery experience using Node.js/TypeScript
Org-level communication and influence including stakeholder alignment and mentoring senior leaders

Nice-to-have

Experience building platform components or SDKs for multiple product teams
Involvement in architecture forums or tech councils defining org-wide standards
Experience optimizing cost and performance for data and AI-heavy workloads at scale
Leadership of major modernization efforts such as legacy migration to serverless or multi-region architecture
Public technical presence through conference talks, open-source contributions, or published writing
