Responsibilities

Set the technical direction for AI-enabled platform
Architect secure, scalable, serverless systems on AWS
Define patterns and governance practices for multiple teams
Guide where AI adds value across the stack
Mentor senior engineers
Lead org-wide design decisions
Write code as needed
Shape engineering strategy with broad organizational impact
Drive platform evolution by identifying pain points and leading design of solutions
Lead architectural discussions and design reviews
Own AI architectural decisions end-to-end with governance and monitoring
Act as AI thought leader educating teams on responsible AI practices
Mentor and stretch senior and staff engineers

Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience
At least 3 years operating at Staff or Principal Engineer level in an organization of 100+ engineers
Led large, complex platform or AI initiatives as decision-maker
Deep AWS platform expertise including multi-account architectures and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CDK)
Experience shipping AI-enabled systems into production (RAG pipelines, agentic frameworks, LLM orchestration)
Defined and implemented AI governance in production environments
Proven track record designing and shipping RESTful APIs and backend platform components using Node.js/TypeScript
Strong org-level communication and influence skills

Nice-to-have

Experience building platform components or SDKs for multiple product teams, Involvement in architecture forums or tech councils, Experience optimizing cost and performance for data and AI-heavy workloads, Leadership of major modernization efforts, Public technical presence such as conference talks, open-source contributions, or published writing
