Responsibilities
Set the technical direction for AI-enabled platform: architect secure, scalable, serverless systems on AWS
Define patterns and governance practices adopted by multiple teams
Guide where AI genuinely adds value across the stack
Mentor senior engineers
Lead org-wide design decisions
Write code with impact measured by systems, architectures, and standards put in place
Shape engineering strategy with broad organizational impact
Drive platform evolution by identifying cross-cutting pain points and leading design of secure, scalable, reusable solutions
Lead architectural discussions and design reviews making trade-offs around performance, security, reliability, and maintainability
Own AI architectural decisions end-to-end with built-in governance, monitoring, and regulatory readiness
Act as AI thought leader educating engineering teams on model behavior, agentic systems, and responsible AI practices
Mentor and stretch senior and staff engineers, building technical leadership depth

Requirements
10+ years of software engineering experience
At least 3 years operating at Staff or Principal Engineer level in an organization of 100+ engineers
Led large, complex platform or AI initiatives as decision-maker
Deep, opinionated AWS platform expertise
Designed multi-account AWS architectures
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CDK preferred)
Strong views on observability, resilience, and security translated into org-wide patterns
Production AI systems experience including RAG pipelines, agentic frameworks, LLM orchestration or similar
Defined and implemented AI governance in production environments including bias and privacy checks, audit-ready monitoring, AI usage policies
Proven track record designing and shipping RESTful APIs and backend platform components using Node.js/TypeScript
Strong org-level communication and influence skills
Ability to align stakeholders on complex technical decisions and mentor senior technical leaders
