Responsibilities
- Conceptualization, development, and practical validation of innovative automated and AI-supported solutions to enhance documentation and analysis workflows
- Analysis of technical and regulatory requirements and translation into robust, technically feasible concepts
- Systematic evaluation of developed solutions with regard to transparency, usability, and regulatory alignment
- Contribution to scientific and strategic research questions in the field of cybersecurity and cybersecurity policy
- Active dissemination of research results through peer-reviewed publications, conference contributions, and presentations
Requirements
- Completed university degree in Computer Science, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Demonstrated programming experience, e.g., in Python or a comparable programming language
- Experience with rapid and/or AI-supported software development (“vibe coding”) is an advantage
- Research experience, e.g., publications as first or co-author, is desirable
- Knowledge in cybersecurity, such as threat modeling, secure software development, incident response, and relevant standards and guidelines, is desirable
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary work at the intersection of digital health, medical devices, hospital operations, and cybersecurity policy and regulation

The position is available from May 1, 2026, either full-time or part-time, initially limited to 24 months, with the option of extension and longer-term collaboration. Compensation is based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement and, subject to fulfillment of the personal requirements, may be classified according to pay grade E13.

Company info
The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary and international research environment within the “Medical Device Regulatory Science” research group led by Prof. Steven Gilbert and involves close collaboration with academic institutions and practice partners.
The research focus is on applied cybersecurity for medical devices and digital hospital infrastructures. Technical development approaches are closely integrated with regulatory and health policy perspectives.
