Main tasks, responsibilities:
- Systematic identification and evaluation of customer and supplier claims
- Analyze contract conditions and assess claim entitlement under applicable law
- Legal assessment of complex claim situations, supported by solid legal reasoning
- Development of structured evidenced-based claim strategies, including scenario evaluations, negotiation strategies, settlement approaches, and risk assessments
- Preparation of claim files, documentation, and supporting evidence in close cooperation with Engineering, Quality, Sales, Procurement, and Finance to ensure consistent, transparent, and timely claim handling
- Draft clear and professional claim letters with strong factual and contractual grounding
- Negotiating with customers and suppliers on claim‑related matters, ensuring robust outcomes
- Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements and related contractual documentation as well as handling alternative dispute resolution and formal dispute proceedings, in close collaboration with the lawyers of the Legal Department
- Support the application and further development of the standardized claim management process and implementation
- Contribute to best practices, tools, templates, and reporting structures for consistent global claim handling
- Monitoring performance indicators to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains
- Training and awareness activities on claim prevention, documentation requirements, and contractual risk implications
- Acting as a point of contact for all claim‑related matters
Requirements:
- A university degree in Law is required; additional qualifications in other business‑related fields are considered an advantage
- At least three years of professional experience in claim management in an international industrial environment
- Sound understanding of automotive industry processes, particularly OEM/Tier‑1/Tier‑2 interactions, is strongly preferred
- Strong commercial acumen combined with the ability to interpret technical and contractual documentation
- Proven track record of handling complex negotiations and resolving claims
- Excellent English language skills; additional languages such as German are beneficial
- Strong analytical capabilities and structured problem‑solving skills
- High level of assertiveness, resilience, and professionalism in challenging situations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a results‑driven mindset
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix organization
- Reliable, detail‑oriented, and capable of handling multiple claims and priorities simultaneously
- Willingness to travel as needed
