Responsibilities
- Supporting the Executive Publisher in managing and developing the existing journal portfolio, including new journal launches and acquisitions in the chemical sciences.
- Implementing journal development and commissioning plans aligned with the Thieme Science strategy to acquire high-quality content.
- Monitoring journal performance against defined targets and KPIs using market observation, data analysis, and reporting.
- Organizing and supporting Editorial Board meetings while coordinating with editors, authors, and the editorial office on thematic issues and timelines.
- Ensuring publishing quality, ethics, standards, and research integrity policies across journal activities.
- Driving strategy execution by coordinating and prioritizing activities with internal and external stakeholders, and representing the journals and Thieme at conferences and professional events.
Requirements
- PhD or master's degree preferably in chemical, physical or life sciences
- 1-2 years' experience in the international academic publishing industry, ideally in an open access environment, would be desirable
- Excellent communications skills in English language, written and spoken
- You have an above-average degree of self-organization as well as sovereign time and schedule management skills
- Strongly collaborative team worker, comfortable with co-ownership of shared goals and with a high level of personal accountability
- You have excellent Microsoft Office and other relevant software skills
- You are highly motivated and willing and able to travel
