About the job
As an HSE Manager, you will take ownership of creating a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. You'll lead the development and continuous improvement of our Occupational Health and Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001, ensuring all legal and company requirements are met. This includes assessing risks, guiding teams through audits, planning emergency response measures, and encouraging active employee participation in safety initiatives.

You'll also oversee our Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001. This includes monitoring environmental impacts, driving reduction measures, coordinating audits, and training staff on key environmental topics. Alongside this, you'll manage REACH processes, maintain hazardous substances documentation, support compliance with regulations, and act as the main point of contact for fire protection, including planning drills and maintaining prevention measures.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong compliance frameworks, supporting people through training, and promoting a culture where safety and sustainability are part of everyday work. Your expertise will help ensure our operations remain safe, compliant, and environmentally conscious.

Occupational Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with requirements according to ISO 45001 as well as monitoring all aspects of occupational safety
  • Establish, implement, and continuously develop the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS)
  • Identify and assess risks and opportunities in occupational health and safety (including physical and psychological hazards in accordance with ISO 45001, Sec. 6.1)
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant occupational safety legislation
  • Organize and accompany audits according to ISO 45001
  • Plan and conduct training sessions and emergency measures (e.g. accident response, emergency preparedness)
  • Promote active employee participation in shaping occupational health and safety (ISO 45001, Sec. 5.4)
  • Report on accidents or serious incidents

Environmental Protection:

  • Responsible for the Environmental Management System according to ISO 14001
  • Monitor and evaluate the company's environmental impacts as well as ensure compliance with statutory regulations
  • Develop, set, and implement environmental policies and objectives
  • Identify and analyze environmental aspects (e.g. waste, emissions)
  • Coordinate and realize measures to reduce environmental impacts
  • Organize and supervise audits according to ISO 14001
  • Conduct and document staff training on environmental topics
  • Integrate environmental aspects into the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001, Sec. 6.1.2)

Waste Disposal Coordination:

  • Act as the REACH Coordinator (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) managing and monitoring all REACH processes

Responsibility for Hazardous Substances:

  • Maintain the hazardous substances registry
  • Manage and update safety data sheets
  • Communicate with authorities regarding hazardous substances
  • Identify dangerous substances (SVHC)
  • Draft operating instructions together with supervisors

Fire Protection Coordination:

  • Revise and maintain the fire protection regulations
  • Implement and supervise measures for fire prevention
  • Serve as contact person for relevant authorities in fire protection matters
  • Plan and conduct fire drills

Requirements

  • Professional Fluency in German and English
  • Within commutable distance to be based in the Velten office
  • Training as an occupational safety specialist
  • Higher technical education and training as a safety officer (D) or equivalent
  • Experience in working with HSE systems and leading a continuous improvement process
  • Business management mindset
  • Strong knowledge and experience in using standard software and knowledge of SAP R/3
  • Experience as an internal trainer
