Job Description

The R&D Engineer will drive projects from prototyping and process technology development to pilot line development and final design transfer to production, while providing solutions for complex issues as part of the R&D team.

You will be responsible for

  • Developing the design of new catheters from conception to complete product.

Initiating and executing product industrialization activities, including equipment selection, process development, process characterization, and process validation

  • Designing products with a focus on efficacy, manufacturability, and operational safety.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional team members throughout product development phases to ensure program success.
  • Supporting internal manufacturing, external manufacturing, and manufacturing transfer projects.
  • Supporting change activities in existing product lifecycles.
  • Making data-driven decisions using appropriate analytical and statistical methodologies.
  • Performing root cause analysis of new and existing products and processes as part of the R&D team.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a hands-on, problem-solving attitude and the following:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in product/process R&D in the medical device industry, experience with angioplasty catheters is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks – an advantage.
  • Experience working with metals/polymers and various manufacturing methods such as laser welding, CNC machining, and surface finish technologies.
  • Team-player mentality and ability to deliver on a tight schedule.
  • Drive to assume responsibility, learn and take initiative where you can contribute and improve the company.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills — maintaining excellent working relationships with other departments while coordinating toward timely goal completion.
  • High motivation with the ability to independently deliver results.
  • Demonstrated ability in Lean methodologies — prototyping skills such as using a milling machine, lathe, and other workshop tools are an advantage.
  • Proficiency with FDA QSR/cGMP and ISOrequirements, with commitment to environmental and quality regulations — an advantage.
