Responsibilities

Are you looking to work in a dynamic, international environment where technical precision meets strategic vision? Our team at the 310-room Verdi Budapest Aquincum is looking for an experienced, proactive, and committed Director of Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for the preservation, modernization, and sustainable operation of our building.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Defining short and long-term goals for hotel maintenance and technical operations
Planning, prioritizing, and delegating daily repair tasks for a maintenance team of 15–20 people
Developing and overseeing a comprehensive preventive maintenance plan across all areas of the property
Ensuring all health and safety conditions (fire protection, water quality control, pest control, etc.) meet local legislation and corporate standards
Technical supervision of major renovations and remodelling (CAPEX projects) and providing expert advice to senior management
Annual budget planning, expenditure control, supplier negotiations, and managing competitive bidding processes
Leading the Sustainability Committee and implementing energy saving measures
Managing high priority/emergency ad-hoc jobs any time of day/night.
Plan and review annual budget for the department and ensure payroll and manning are kept with budgeted amounts
Managing and oversee the repair works of any building structure
Recruitment, training, and mentoring of the team while ensuring effective cooperation
Completing duty Manager shifts by Hotel’s Duty Managers Roster

Requirements

Talent Profile (Requirements)

At least 5 years of technical management experience in hotel operations or large-scale property management
Proven track record in managing medium-sized teams (15–25 people)
Degree in Engineering (preferably Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering)
Fluent English (written and spoken) - knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of fire safety and occupational health and safety regulations
- Familiarity with kitchen technology and mechanical equipment
- Proficiency in Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy management systems
- IT literacy (MS Office, AutoCAD)
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills under pressure, a decisive presence, a creative mindset, and flexibility.
