Responsibilities

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will work side-by-side with our CTO and bridge the gap between raw infrastructure and semantic reasoning, architecting the data lineage and metadata models that serve as the foundation for our mathematical computation engine. Join our nerdy, fast-paced team to build the semantic structures that make our mission possible.

Architect and build the high-performance backbone of our data platform
Focus on distributed computing stability and building effective caching strategies for large-scale operations
Design ETL pipelines and architect resilient caching for complex dependency resolutions
Extensive practical experience with ELT/ETL processes, data integration platforms, and related tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Python/Scala
Establish data lineage and metadata modeling infrastructure that serves as stable foundation and common platform for both semantic interpretation and mathematical computation
Integrate and extend our data platform with graph-based reasoning capabilities, leveraging knowledge graph APIs and git-based workflows to enable collaborative data modeling
Partner closely with our CTO and product team to drive the architectural vision of our semantic engine

Requirements

5+ years of experience building data platforms, data infrastructure, or backend systems with focus on data-intensive operations, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
GitHub or portfolio showcasing your data engineering capabilities, demonstrating work on distributed systems, orchestration frameworks, or complex data pipelines
Deep expertise in Python for production data systems and proficiency in TypeScript for building data APIs and integration layers
A proactive, curious, and independent working style with a strong sense of ownership and a bias for action
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Cloudflare, or similar)
Familiarity with graph databases, semantic modeling, or knowledge graphs (Neo4j, JanusGraph, RDF/OWL, or similar)
Experience with data operating systems and Graph APIs, along with a strong adherence to Git-based workflows is a significant plus
English and German proficiency at C1 level or higher
Already living in or willing to relocate to Cologne, Germany
