CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (LJK)

Location: Budapest, IX. district (50% home office)

Salary: competitive

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain the configuration baseline
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the configuration baseline for T24/TPH infrastructure, which is a set of approved and controlled versions of the project or system components that serve as the reference point for further development, testing, and deployment. Iidentifies the configuration items (CIs), which are the units of configuration management, such as software modules, hardware components, documents, or configurations. Assigns unique identifiers, attributes, and relationships to the CIs, and stores them in a configuration management database (CMDB) or a configuration management system (CMS).
  • Control and manage the configuration changes
  • Responsible for controlling and managing the configuration changes, which are any modifications or updates to the CIs or the configuration baseline. Implements and enforces the change management process, which defines how the changes are requested, evaluated, approved, implemented, tested, and documented. Uses the configuration management tools, such as version control systems, change management systems, or configuration management software, to record, track, and monitor the changes and their impacts on the project or system.
  • Verify and audit the configuration status
  • Responsible for verifying and auditing the configuration status, which is the current state and history of the CIs and the configuration baseline. Performs configuration verification, which is the process of ensuring that the CIs are consistent with their specifications and requirements, and that they meet the quality standards and criteria. Performs configuration audits, which are formal reviews of the CIs and the configuration baseline to verify their completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the CM plan and the project or system objectives.
  • Report and communicate the configuration information
  • Responsible for reporting and communicating the configuration information, which is the data and documentation related to the CIs, the configuration baseline, and the configuration changes. Prepares and distributes configuration reports, which provide the status, progress, and issues of the CM process and activities. Communicates and collaborates with the project or system stakeholders, such as developers, testers, users, customers, or managers, to inform them of the configuration information, to solicit their feedback and input, and to resolve any conflicts or problems.
  • Improve and optimize the CM process and tools
  • Responsible for improving and optimizing the CM process and tools, which are the methods and techniques used to perform the CM activities and tasks. Evaluates and measures the effectiveness and efficiency of the CM process and tools, using metrics, indicators, or feedback. Identifies and implements the opportunities and recommendations for improvement and optimization, such as adopting best practices, standards, or guidelines, updating or upgrading the CM tools, or providing training or support to the CM team or stakeholders.

Tasks:

  • Delivers day-to-day CM services to the organization and takes general direction from the configuration management manager and specific direction from configuration management analysts to deliver work products that support ongoing CM operations. The specialist’s specific responsibilities include: 
  • Performing operational activities as defined by CM policies and procedures 
  • Working to fulfill CM service requests as assigned 
  • Engaging with strategic projects to ensure configuration management can deliver the required functionality within project timeframes 
  • Mentoring the organization on CM services, concepts, policies, and procedures 
  • Running and delivering reports as required 
  • Collecting and reporting on metrics as required 
  • Identifying and reporting on noncompliance situations 
  • Performing CM audits as directed 
  • Identifying service improvement opportunities
  • Reviewing and approving significant IT infrastructure changes to ensure impacts to configuration management data are properly addressed 
  • Performing operational activities as defined by CM policies and procedures 
  • Fulfilling CM service requests as assigned 
  • Overseeing the design, coding, and testing of reports as needed 
  • Collecting and reporting on metrics as required 
  • Identifying and reporting on noncompliance situations 

Toolsets:

  • Deep knowledge: DevOps toolset
  • Basic knowledge: J2EE, JBoss, RedHat, IBM MQ, Oracle DB, standard network
  • Optional: maintain scripts, which collects CM data
