Responsibilities
The Commis is an apprentice chef who supports various kitchen positions while developing culinary skills. They assist with mise en place, basic preparation, and light cleaning, and may support service operations as required. This role provides essential hands-on learning under the guidance of senior chefs, ensuring continuity and smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements
- Support Across Kitchen Stations: Assist different sections of the kitchen as directed, helping maintain efficiency and smooth workflow.
- Mise en Place & Preparation: Prepare ingredients, perform basic tasks, and ensure readiness for service.
- Service Assistance: Help during service periods as needed, supporting chefs and maintaining standards.
- Learning & Development: Observe and learn culinary techniques from senior chefs, developing skills and knowledge.
- Cleaning & Organization: Wash light utensils and maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen.
- Shift Coverage: Work in alternating shifts to ensure two Commis are always present for continuity and support.
