Responsibilities

A leading multinational industry group with its European headquarters in Zug is seeking a Legal Counsel for a maternity leave cover.Reporting to the Head of Legal Europe, you will advise senior management on strategic and tactical legal matters and support the European business across a broad range of legal topics. The role provides exposure to commercial agreements, M&A transactions, litigation, corporate governance, and special projects, particularly within retail operations, distribution networks, and supplier relationships.

Legal Counsel (maternity leave cover)

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational legal advice across European retail operations, distribution networks, and supplier relationships, covering corporate, employment, commercial, and governance matters.

  • Support the Head of Legal Europe on all legal, organisational, and administrative topics, ensuring compliance and smooth regional operations.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and corporate agreements (including supply, distribution, marketing) and manage related documentation.

  • Advise on and support European M&A transactions, working in cross-functional project teams and coordinating external counsel.

  • Manage a broad portfolio of legal matters (contracts, marketing, litigation, special projects), build strong internal client relationships, and contribute to team knowledge sharing.


Profile

  • Law degree from a recognised European university (MLaw or equivalent); bar qualification advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Approximately 4-6 years of relevant Swiss experience, gained in-house or at an international law firm, with strong exposure to corporate law and commercial agreements involving retailers and distributors.

  • Fluency in English and German (minimum C1) with excellent drafting and communication skills.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently while performing under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted internal relationships; willingness to travel internationally (Europe/USA).
