Safety Management System Manager

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to develop, maintain, describe the safety  management system, including procedures, forms, maintaining key SMS logs and  records;
  • Development of airline SMS key processes e.g. hazard identification, risk assessment, safety assurance and management of change processes, etc. ;
  • Administration of SMS documentation (manual editing) ;
  • Cooperation with OPS SM in coordination of safety related activities of airline operations departments;
  • Participation in assessment of operational risks with appropriate nominated postholder/operational manager;
  • Monitoring of regulatory safety requirements to ensure that airline activities are aligned to the relevant regulations in the area of SMS;
  • Initiation and execution of management of change and other required actions in case of changes in the safety department;
  • Support and supervise the MOC process within the other functional department areas;
  • Development and implementation of KPI, SPI measurement methodology and procedure;
  • Development, implementation and follow up of KPIs for SMS performance;
  • Development, implementation and constant review of company SMS training syllabus within safety department and other functional departments;
  • Monitoring of industry trends and hazards for implementation of proactive mitigating actions in the company;
  • Participation in development of a positive corporate safety culture;
  • Participation in development of safety related policies.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent knowledge of aviation safety management principles (EASA, ICAO, IOSA);
  • Significant experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management;
  • Previous work experience in safety, compliance, quality control;
  • Experience in air carrier operations is an advantage;
  • Experience in management of complex projects;
  • PC user skills at advanced level (MS Office);
  • Experience with SMS software and tools is advantage;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Data analysis skills and good knowledge of statistics;
  • Analytical skills, creativity;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor degree in aviation, engineering, technology or related area;
  • Excellent knowledge of safety management principles;
  • Significant experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management;
  • Previous work experience in aviation safety, compliance, quality control.
