Global Operations Controller

The Global Operations Controller is a key position in one of our acquisitions (GCE) managing the financials for our global manufacturing sites. This role is key in outlining and executing strategic and operational plans of the manufacturing sites located in CZ, UK, USA, and China. This position will work closely with the GCE Global Manufacturing Director, Plant Managers, Plant Controllers, FP&A, Shared Services Center, and the Finance Director as well as Colfax and ESAB functional departments

In this role you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Support and partner with the GCE Global Manufacturing Director with appropriate information to make business decisions to reach the specified operational financial targets and key operational metrics
  • This role requires the candidate to develop a deep understanding or GCE/ESAB process and system knowledge to work with the various teams to standardize work, optimize the production/capacity demand planning process, automate/simplify various processes, and drive productivity across the supply chain functions
  • Responsible for the actuals, forecasting, budgeting, and AOP for all GCE Operations/manufacturing sites
  • Manager of plant controllers and plant accounting staff
  • Report weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting, operations dashboards & metrics together with plant managers and plant controllers – and analyzing any variance to target, root cause analysis, and formulate and execute, together with the team, action plans to get back to target.
  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior company leadership
  • Manage the operations forecasting & budget processes including financial modeling, actual/variance analysis, cost oversight management
  • Responsible for Inventory control, value adjustments, CAPEX management
  • Responsible for internal control frame work (SOX/ESAB policies) of Inventories, product costing, value adjustments, cycle counting, slow moving stock, obsolete, scrap
  • Responsible for transfer pricing (TP’s) factory to factory flow
  • Drive financial analysis and implementation of projects
  • Work with the various teams to drive sourcing savings, manage inventory levels, production capacity optimization, and demand planning
  • Define and calculate product standard costs, calculate manufacturing overhead, analyze actual product costs, identify and analyze deviations from standard costs
  • Challenge, understand and communicate standard cost variances
  • Ensure statutory and SOX compliance for the region/entities in scope
  • Act as the contact for all matters regarding tax/audit/legal/internal control/financing/compliance within the business unit

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field is required
  • 10+yrs finance experience in Controller or Finance roles
  • Background in international manufacturing
  • Wide practical experience in financial analysis
  • Energetic, positive and can-do mentality, hands on approach
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Fluency in English knowledge is required, any additional European language is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good technical financial acumen
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to be persuasive and influence others in a constructive manner
  • Action-oriented, with a high level of energy, commitment and enthusiasm
  • Strong prioritization and practical decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
