Environmental, - Health and Safety Manager in Projects (EMiP)

Area of responsibility, what are your tasks?

The EMiP supports the Project Manager (PM) in planning, supervising, monitoring and reporting of all HSE related proceedings in relation to the project.

Focus of the role is to assure compliance with applicable internal and external HSE related rules & regulations and the prevention of HSE related hazards and risks.

  • Define and implement HSE plan and connected documentation for on-site application in accordance to the EHS Management system applied by the relevant BU/Country. Support PM in planning and securing milestone results.
  • Cooperate with HSE of the project-related BU and other functions e.g. Quality Management.
  • Identify HSE related rules & regulations applicable to the project. Identify HSE aspects relevant to the project.
  • Determine appropriate/required means for management of EHS aspects and compliance with rules & regulations and incorporate in overall project plan and budget.
  • Establish and communicate HSE targets and determine related KPI for the project.
  • Identify and inspect hazards and define corrective measures for their elimination. Prepare proposals for improving safety standards and observance thereof
  • Define and issue project specific directives in collaboration with the PM to the project team to ensure compliance with applicable le HSE related rules & regulations and customer requirements
  • Ensure execution of HSE plan.
  • Liase with customer / contractor HSE representatives
  • Advise - and where applicable - train site personnel in HSE matters
  • Conduct tool-box meetings and discussions as well as safety walkdowns; monitor elimination of deficiencies.
  • Plan and monitor accident alert and rescue services, including first-aid service, emergency response with the project and Site team member
  • Report HSE status, HSE incidents and root-cause-analysis to PM. Report of safety statistics, escalate deficiencies or non-conformances to PM and - if necessary - to functional reporting line.
  • Plan, conduct / participate in HSE related inspections, assessments, audits, reviews. Participate in status meetings. Ensure implementation of (improvement) measures.
  • Plan, initiate and coordinate continuous improvement actions for all phases of the project. Ensure good practice sharing and feedback of experience e.g. through continuous improvement workshops and project assessments.
  • Intervene and escalate to PM and if necessary to respective EHS organisation matters where applicable HSE related procedures are not complied with. Has the authority to intervene and escalate in case of significant non-conformances.
  • Stay oriented about the quality system and the procedures that has significance to the position and to conduct the work according to the requirements in the quality system.

What do you need to qualify for this role?

  • Relevant experience of working within the Construction / Renewables Industry,
  • H&S related certification desirable (e.g. H&S degree, NEBOSH, IOSH)
  • Up to date/ recent additional training, qualification in H&S and E related areas
  • Good presentation and communications skills, in English,
  • Excellent people and team working skills, the ability to demonstrate experience of working with different cultures would be preferable,
  • Good coaching and influencing skills,
  • Category B driving license - experienced driver,
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications
