Component Software and Diagnostics Engineer

What to expect

The In-Vehicle Infotainment and Connected Car group is part of the Vehicle Engineering department; responsible for providing world-class information and entertainment systems to our customers.
Vehicle Engineering is the key technical department for the product creation process, leading the engineering, from concept phase to the customer. It’s an incredibly diverse department, responsible for delivering the key attributes for the entire vehicle, from Infotainment and Connected Car, to Aerodynamics, Safety and Sustainability.
As Component Software and Diagnostics Engineer you’ll support the delivery of integrated sub systems elements, or software into our vehicle programs. You’ll work with lead engineers to ensure that valid content is specified, manage specific elements of the supplier delivery; and arrange verification activity to support the vehicle program to meet the requirements for quality, cost and time.

Supporting colleagues by interfacing between Systems Engineering, Advanced Product Creation and the Advanced Manufacturing team you’ll ensure the program delivers the expected actions successfully.

You’ll also be:

  • Delivering a diagnostic and software performance of suppliers
  • Supporting the Cycle Plan programs and studies, using Product Creation Delivery System principles
  • Contributing to the negotiation and agreement of targets for the modules and ensure all program deliverables are tracked
  • Working towards the problem resolution on all programs aspects of content delivery; including virtual/physical build and launch support.
  • What you'll need

    You’ll join us with a relevant degree, and experience of delivering projects in an automotive or manufacturing environment. You’ll also have a good understanding of specification creation and approvals; formal change management processes; Design FMEA and verification; and issue tracking experience.

    Using your strong management and interpersonal skills, you’ll deliver technical products through a team with a knowledge of eVehicle electronics systems, especially infotainment domain; networks (Ethernet/A2B/FlexRAY/CAN) and diagnostics; as well as vehicle rulesets and parameters.

    You’ll also:

  • Have technical knowledge and experience of developing requirements specifications and associated test plans
  • Knowledge of component design - function, performance, production and manufacturing requirement
  • Have the interpersonal skills to manage senior stakeholders and communicate at all levels (English language).
